Shanghai Travel
Located in southwest Shanghai about eighteen kilometers from downtown, Qibao is a typical waterfront ancient town with the style of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties. It is like a spiritual sanctuary largely free from the noise and pollution of the big city.

Qibao has a history of over 1,000 years. It was built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and reached its prime during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The town's most famous attraction is Old Street which preserves the look of those dynastic periods. Near Old Street water lanes, bridges and traditionally styled houses create a harmonious scene. The street is divided into northern and southern sections. The northern side has shops selling Chinese handicrafts, antiques, calligraphy and paintings. The southern side is filled with various restaurants, snack bars, tea houses and pubs. Some of their specialties include Meat flavored with Fermented Rice; Qibao Cubic Cake; Qibao Beef and Qibao Old Wine.
Qibao is home to many cultural and historical attractions. Among the most prominent are Cricket Hall; Weaving House; Qibao Theatre; Qibao Temple and the Zhou Family Miniature Sculpture Hall.
