ç‘¿anada's Data & Audio Visual Enterprises Wireless (DAVE Wireless) has signed a $125-million loan agreement with ING Bank to fund the build-out of its wireless network. This long-term financing, which was structured by ING and its affiliate ING Capital, will enable DAVE Wireless to accelerate its roll-out schedule in its service territories, which include Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.
"We have made significant progress in the last year, and we are pleased to now be working with ING," said Dave Dobbin, President of DAVE Wireless. "This attractive financing provides significant operating flexibility as we continue to implement our strategy to offer outstanding service and value to our future Canadian subscribers."
The network operator recently signed an agreement with Bell Mobility for wireless cell-site sharing, along with a multi-year contract with Ericsson to build its own 3G network. The network also has a national roaming agreement with Rogers Wireless.
Following the Canadian wireless spectrum auction, DAVE Wireless holds licenses which cover more than half of Canada's population in 10 of the 13 largest markets including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa.
The company plans to launching services in early 2010.
